DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY
Kindness is a matter of attitude and humanity, while generosity is a matter of giving and sharing. Here is an analysis to better distinguish them:
- Kindness: The Art of Being Benevolent Kindness is a state of mind. It's the way you treat others on a daily basis, without necessarily having a "transfer" of something material.
- The essence: It is being pleasant, polite, and attentive to the feelings of others.
- The form: A smile to a stranger, holding the door, listening to a friend who is feeling down, or saying "thank you."
- The cost: The cost: It costs nothing, but requires empathy and patience.
- The goal: Create a positive connection and soothe the social environment. The objective: Create a positive connection and soothe the social environment.
- Generosity: The act of giving more Generosity is an act of sharing. It involves giving of one's own resources (time, money, goods, knowledge) beyond what is expected or required.
- The essence: It is abundance. The essence: It is abundance. We give a part of what we possess.
- The form: Making a donation to an association, giving a gift without a special occasion, or spending the entire weekend helping someone move. The form: Donating to a charity, giving a gift without a special occasion, or spending the entire weekend helping someone move.
- The cost: It often involves a personal sacrifice (of time or money).
- The objective: To support, help concretely, or bring joy thru donation.
Example Console someone who is crying Paying for a meal because he is hungry The common point: Both stem from altruism. You can be generous without necessarily being "kind" (giving money coldly), and you can be kind without having the means to be generous.
The ideal, of course, is when kindness motivates generosity: we give not out of obligation, but because we genuinely care about the other.
May GOD bless you.
